Yoga Therapy for Individuals or Groups

HARK png smalAre you stressed, anxious, depressed, angry, or experiencing feelings that you know are not your true nature?

Are you experiencing dis-ease? The feeling of not being at ease in your mind-body-spirit?

Does your body ache for no real medical reasons? Or perhaps a medical reason does exist and traditional methods are not providing the full spectrum of healing possibility.

Have you tried conventional methods to address your dis-ease with minimal success or feel like it could be even better?

Everyone’s reason for dis-ease is different, yet all these reasons are valid. Whether the threat or pain is real or perceived, it is real to the person experiencing it.

Yoga therapy tackles dis-ease from the ground up, not from the top down as in many conventional practices (ie. talk therapy).

Yoga therapy helps unleash pain (physical and emotional) from the body. It can be done as a stand-alone form of treatment or in combination with traditional treatments you may currently be using.

Yoga For Balancing Moods

10 Sessions (1-Hr each)

In Yoga For Balancing Moods, we embrace and honor ourselves exactly where we are and at the same time, create space for growth and transformation.

A growing body of research indicates that yoga is an effective therapeutic tool in the prevention and treatment of anxiety, depression and other mental health and mood disorders, including trauma (ie. PTSD).

For private 1-on-1 sessions, this program is designed to suit the client. We work through anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. through the physical body.

The body holds onto memories and experiences and they get buried deep into the tissues. Through these sessions we work on unblocking and dissolving this dis-ease.

In these sessions, we will explore how yoga philosophy, yoga poses, breathing techniques, and meditation practice can enhance mood and overall state of well-being.

Through the investigation of ancient yoga practices, in combination with modern self-healing techniques based on neurobiology and psychoneuroimmunology, we learn how to maintain a healthy nervous system, promote a stronger sense of self-awareness, and focus the mind.

Kay is trained and certified in yoga for balancing moods and as a trauma aware/sensitive instructor. You are in good hands. These classes are tailored specific to this dis-ease and may not necessarily look like your typical yoga class offered at the local yoga studio.

What Is Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices for people with health challenges. Yoga therapists prescribe specific regimens of postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to suit individual needs. Medical research shows that Yoga therapy is among the most effective complementary therapies for several common aliments. The challenges may be an illness, a temporary condition like pregnancy or childbirth, or a chronic condition associated with old age or infirmity.

Yoga Biomedical Trust (England) Robin Monro, Ph.D.

What Is Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is that facet of the ancient science of Yoga that focuses on health and wellness at all levels of the person: physical, psychological, and spiritual. Yoga therapy focuses on the path of Yoga as a healing journey that brings balance to the body and mind through an experiential understanding of the primary intention of Yoga: awakening of Spirit, our essential nature.

Integrative Yoga Therapy (U.S.A.) Joseph LePage, M.A.

What Is Yoga Therapy

Samata Yoga Center (U.S.A.) Larry Payne, Ph.D.

What Is Yoga Therapy

Yoga comprises a wide range of mind/body practices, from postural and breathing exercises to deep relaxation and meditation. Yoga therapy tailors these to the health needs of the individual. It helps to promote all-round positive health, as well as assisting particular medical conditions. The therapy is particularly appropriate for many chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment.

Yoga Therapy and Training Center (Ireland) Marie Quail

What Is Yoga Therapy

(Yoga therapy is) the use of the techniques of Yoga to create, stimulate, and maintain an optimum state of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D.

What Is Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy consists of the application of yogic principles, methods, and techniques to specific human ailments. In its ideal application, Yoga therapy is preventive in nature, as is Yoga itself, but it is also restorative in many instances, palliative in others, and curative in many others.

-Art Brownstein, M.D.

What Is Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is of modern coinage and represents a first effort to integrate traditional yogic concepts and techniques with Western medical and psychological knowledge. Whereas traditional Yoga is primarily concerned with personal transcendence on the part of a “normal” or healthy individual, Yoga therapy aims at the holistic treatment of various kinds of psychological or somatic dysfunctions ranging from back problems to emotional distress. Both approaches, however, share an understanding of the human being as an integrated body-mind system, which can function optimally only when there is a state of dynamic balance.

Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D.
